The days run from a Wednesday start, and end on the Sunday with the Band of the Year competition.

Day 1 Major Events - Wednesday 15th April.
These take place at the Mission Estate Winery in Greenmeadows at 198 Church Road. On the venue map you can see it is 2 km north of Eastern Institute of Technology where the solo events take place. It's a lovely setting.

Seating is limited in the rooms these functions are in, and attendance is by invitation only. The timing and room details will be put up as soon as practicable.
Whether at one of those functions or not, please come to the the Simon Hocking House of Travel Invitation Slow Melody. This starts at 7.30 pm, in the the Old Seminary Building, in the Chapel. Tickets will be sold at the door. Seating for 300 is anticipated, so arrive a bit early to give time to buy a ticket.
Travel from EIT to the Mission. - See the transport page. Best options are for most band members to be on a band bus, and straggers and early movers to use the courtesy van. It can even be walked.
Day 2 Major Events - Thursday 16th April.
There are a score or more of
events in the first two days, each with their champions.
The
NZ Army sponsored Champion Cornet
competition begins at noon. On Thursday evening, the champions
of various Solo events square off to find the respective Champion
of Champions. These will be held at the Municipal Theatre in the centre of
Napier.
The 'Mode For' Junior
Champion of Champions begins at 5:45 pm and the 'KBB Instruments' Open Champion
of
Champions at 7:30 pm. Booking for these is through TicketDirect.
When you click onto their website, narrow down onto Hawkes Bay using
the map they have (fragment at right). All events are on the one
'Champion of Champion' listing, with a little box that allows you
to specify the day you are buying the ticket for.
Day 3 Major Events - Friday 17th April.
On the last three days, band events take place. The opening contest is the York B Grade Sacred Item and Test from 9:00 am.
The public showpiece is the Port of Napier Parade of Bands through the centre of the city, mainly along Hastings Street. There is a map of the route available. Marching begins at 1:00 pm, but be there earlier to get a good position.
At 3:30 pm, the Port of Napier C Grade competition begins in the nearby Century Theatre, and at 5:30 the Besson sponsored A Grade begin in the Municipal Theatre.
Day 4 Major Events - Saturday 18th April.
All bands compete in Own Choice events. See the detailed timetable.
Day 5 Major Event - Sunday 19th April.
The last competition - Scenic Circle Hotels Band of the Year. This emphasizes the ability of a band to combine excellence of playing with an ability to entertain an audience. It starts at 2:00 pm in the Municipal Theatre.
